Ozzie’s Jerk Center - Review
January 14, 2007
Info:
Location: Norman Manley Blvd
Opposite: Native Son Villas and Seasplash Resort
Food:
Jerk Pork is the house special here. The jerk smoke and spices infuse the tender juicy pork parts with what can only be described as a culinary orgasm. My date had the Jerk Chicken. I tasted a piece of her’s and it was excellent, but when I gave her a piece of mine, her eyes narrowed into green slits of envy. I wouldn’t give her another piece.
Character:
I didn’t meet Ozzie, but the service was quick and friendly. The place itself is a small building near the road with a nice breeze blowing through the hurricane shuttered windows.
Value:
Jerk Chicken w/ Rice & Peas 350J - Jerk Pork w/ Rice @ Peas 350J - Bottled Water 100J - Red Stripe is 150J
Notes:
I’ve been to Ozzie’s twice, once heading back from Half Moon Beach and once heading to the airport. The place is clean, the service is very quick by Negril standards, the food is good, and the beer is icy cold. What more can you ask for?

We never miss a chance to get jerk at Ozzie’s and bring it back to Firefly for a GREAT spicy meal on our patio. Don’t forget to get extra sauce and make sure that there’s a large supply of Red Stripes to help absorb some of the heat!

buy a bottle of the hot sauce from the guys who runs the place. Right now, I can’t remember his name but it might come to me, I’ll repost if my cabeza’s hard drive kicks in

Great pork for sure. We often get some to take on the plane home. When there last year, we did indeed see Ossie - who was cooking and chopping in the kitchen.
We also enjoyed the jerk pork delivered by Jerky on the beach.
Best,
Chris

I must agree, Ozzie’s is the place to get jerk anything in Negril. They also owned another restaurant across the street from the jerk shack that did seafood (great redfish) and one on the beach that cooked a pretty good breakfast. Does anyone know if it the other restaurants are still there? I haven’t been back in a little while. A lady called Miss Marge was running it the last time we were down. I would love to be able to get back in contact with her. She rented out her cottage next to Ozzies to us last time and it was a great place to be. I have since lost her number. But am planning a trip back in ‘08. I would love to stay there again.
